Renegade, Wrangler or Gladiator: Which Jeep model can handle what I will throw at it?
Jeep has been producing vehicles that handle off-road and all-terrain conditions since the 1940s. They have specialized in what can not be done by other SUVs and trucks and made it their passion.
So if you are a person who likes to drive down the road less travelled, which Jeep is for you? Renegade, Wrangler, or Gladiator?
All three offer great driving experiences with much fun to be had on roads and trails and are clearly for the adventurous driver.
Jeep Renegade
The Jeep Renegade is a smaller SUV that comes with a choice between two powertrains and front-wheel or 4-wheel drive. Renegades come equipped with a 2.4-litre 4-cylinder engine which allows it 180 horsepower and 175 lb.-ft of torque.
With its tall centre of gravity, the Renegade might come off as a burden to drive on twisty roads. However, that is not the case at all. A tightly tuned suspension allows drivers to carry a fair amount of speed into corners while still cushioning over bumps and ruts.
The Jeep Renegade can easily manoeuvre tight parking lots and narrow city streets and offers much for those who want to adventure beyond the asphalt.
It functions great in off-road environments, but is stylish and controlled enough to drive in urban zones.
Jeep Wrangler
The Jeep Wrangler is the ultimate go-anywhere SUV. In fact, this vehicle has been doing so since world II.
It comes with stout axels, a short wheelbase, high clearance, flexible suspension and 4-wheel drive. This vehicle was designed for driving off-road in the mud or over rocks.
Additionally, It even outperforms its cohort in the snow and ice. Its 4-wheel drive capabilities and the short wheelbase and high clearance mean cornering stability, hill climbing performance and handling are all exceptional.
Versatility is the Wrangler’s main mission. It can handle any weather or road conditions and is hungry for more.
Jeep Gladiator
The Jeep Gladiator is a mid-size pickup known for its versatility and towing capacity. With a strong V-6 engine and a standard stick shift transmission, this truck can tow up to 7,760 pounds.
The 2021 Gladiator offers a few changes, most notably is that it comes with a diesel engine option. It also has an extra 19.4 inches between the front and rear wheels, which contributes to smoother handling and ride.
The Gladiator is a vehicle of two separate lives. On one side it is a pickup truck that can haul a decent-sized load, and on the other hand, it is a trail-ready explorer.
For the latter, it comes ready with ample off-road equipment. From skid plates to rock crawling axle ratios and the ability to drive in up to 30 inches of water. This vehicle loves to be put to the test on the trails.
Perhaps better for someone who will actually put its trail skills to use, this pickup truck is for the off-road adventurer.
In short, all three are equipped to handle whatever it is you want to throw at them. They are sturdily built and offer ample strength for off-roading and all-terrain expeditions. They handle well in snow, ice and mud.
There isn’t any adverse condition in which they do not handle well!
