Introducing Stellantis

At the start of this year, on the 4th to be exact, Fiat Chrysler shareholders, the Dodge and Jeep owners (and a myriad of other auto brands), and the French auto manufacturer Peugeot met to shake hands and agree to the terms of a merger of the two companies, forming the new automotive giant, Stellantis.

The deal was finalized less than two weeks later on January 16th, and Stellantis hit the New York Stock Exchange just a few days later on January 19th. As a result of this monumental merger, Fiat Chrysler and Peugeot are expected to save billions in research and development, manufacturing, and distribution by sharing their plants and processes. This merger also puts Stellantis in a much more competitive position, the fourth-largest automotive maker in the world, employing more than 400,000 thousand employees across the globe.

This merger didn’t happen overnight, either. This has been in the works since the end of 2019 (just before the pandemic hit). They then spent all of 2020 hammering out all of the details to benefit both companies and their employees. They’ve done very well.

What’s next for Jeep and Dodge Ram?

Dodge and Jeep now have even more resources across the globe to reduce cost and accelerate production. It also means they can begin to focus more on designing new vehicles and improving on existing designs and fuel efficiency. As a matter of fact, Fiat Chrysler has actually begun delving deeper into electric and eco-friendly cars and trucks with some models ready to roll out in 2021 and 2022.

This is an exciting time for Dodge trucks and the many Jeep models (take a look at the Jeep Wrangler 4XE for a very cool hybrid!) to take the automotive industry to the next level.
